What is an aktieselskab (A/S, public limited company)?
In short
An aktieselskab (A/S) is a company form with limited liability and a minimum share capital of DKK 400,000. It is typically used by larger businesses.
In practice
An A/S must have a board of directors (or supervisory board) besides the management and can — unlike an ApS — be listed on a stock exchange. Tax-wise A/S and ApS are treated the same, at 22% corporate tax. Most small businesses pick the ApS for its lower capital requirement.
